is professor of Systems on Chip at TU Wien, Vienna, Austria. He received his Ph.D. degree from TU Wien, Austria, in 1992. Between 2002 and 2014 he was professor in Electronic Systems design at KTH, Stockholm, Sweden. He has published over 300 papers in international conferences and journals, and 6 books as author or co-editor, and he has served on numerous program and organization committees. He has organized many special sessions, tutorials and workshops at international conferences. His current research interests include Dependability, robustness, and self-awareness in embedded systems.




is a Chancellor’s Professor of CS, EECS and Cognitive Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. He received a PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1989). His research interests span embedded systems, electronic design automation, computer architecture, compilers, and brain-inspired architectures and computing. He has served as EiC of ACM TODAES and as AE for ACM TECS and IEEE TVLSI, as well as on committees of several premier CAD and Embedded Systems conferences and workshops. Professor Dutt is a Fellow of the IEEE, an ACM Distinguished Scientist.




is a Lecturer at the Aston Lab for Intelligent Collectives Engineering (ALICE), in the Computer Science department at Aston University in the UK. He has a background in bio-inspired computing, and his research is concerned with continuous adaptation and learning in complex agent-based systems. He is the co-editor of a recent book on Self-aware Computing Systems.




is a post-doctorate University Assistant at TU Wien, Vienna and a PhD graduate of UBC, Vancouver. Accomplishing his degrees with A+ GPAs, he has been granted several awards and scholarships. Dr. TaheriNejad has authored a book and published several articles. He served as the general chair and TPC chair of MobiHealth 2017, as one of the founders and organizers of SelPhyS since the beginning in 2016, as the chair and secretary (public relations) in a number of robotic competitions, and as the chair of the Auto21 HQP Advisory Committee and a member of its Board of Directors. Currently his main areas of focus are Systems on Chip, Self-awareness, Embedded Systems, and Robotics.




is associate professor at the Department of Computer Systems, Centre for Dependable Computing Systems, Tallinn University of Technology (TTÜ), Estonia. During 1995-1996 he worked as guest researcher at the Electrons System Design Lab, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He received a PhD degree from TTÜ in 1997. His main research and teaching topics are HW/SW Codesign, Embedded System and SoC design, and self-awareness in CPSs. He has published 30 international publications and over 60 articles and two textbooks in Estonian. He was rector of the Estonian Information Technology College in 2000-2010 and Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs of TTÜ in 2011-2013. K. Tammemäe is a member of the ACM and senior member of IEEE.




is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellow at Aston University. He received his Master degree and his PhD from Alpen-Adria-University Klagenfurt. His research interests are in self-organisation, self-adaptation and self-awareness in IoT and cyber-physical systems.
