Data Communication SS2011

Lecture 384.081, Herbert Haas

Contents

New modus operandi

Starting with SS2010 this lecture is presented slightly different:

  • Another course material is used (although the basic content remains the same, so you may use Manfred Lindner's documents also as reference)
  • The exam mode is different. There will be no more prepared question-list in order to encourage students to study the lecture topics and not any (badly) worked-out answers collection. The exam itself will consist of approximately 30 multiple choice questions. This mode will start with the first exam after the lecture (approximately at the beginning of July).

To support students to keep up with the lecture I try to slow down the 'presentation speed' a little bit and hereby try to focus more on the most important issues needed today and I may skip the more unimportant stuff. Therefore, to minimize home-learning efforts, it is important for you to visit the lecture and make your notes which details have been skipped and which I consider as really important.

Lecture notes

The lecture is consists of 13 modules. If you click on a chapter title you can download a PDF with slides plus some student notes below. The additional link in square brackets provides a slides-only version (i. e. without student notes). If you notice any dead link or a similar problem please tell me ASAP.

Module 8: TCP and UDP

Module 9: RIP Routing

Module 13: WLAN

All modules are part of the exam except module 13 (WLAN).
